The Armourers & Brasiers' Company is now one of the leading charities in the UK supporting metallurgy and materials science. Grants are made from the Armourers & Brasiers' Gauntlet Trust, on the advice of the Company's Material Sciences Committee.

- Medals and cash prizes on MSc courses at Manchester, DCMT Shrivenham and engineering courses at the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell
- Prizes at the Materials National Lecture Competition
Conference travel grants, special
needs and hardships grants.
- In association with Rolls-Royce a scheme for EngD students for industrial and research placements and travel to conferences to present research papers
- Conference travel for PhD students to attend international conferences and present papers from the following universities Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Glasgow, Imperial, Leeds, Liverpool, Loughborough, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Queen Mary London, Sheffield and Wales, Swansea
- Occasional hardship grants to talented PhD students
Post-Doctoral Level
- The Royal Society Armourers & Brasiers' Prize for excellence in materials science and technology.
- Research fellowships at Cambridge and Manchester
Technical Education
- Travel awards for graduates now working as trainee managers in the steel industry and for young designers under a scheme with the Cutlers' Company of Hallamshire which started in 1927.
Sponsorship of Conferences
- Seminars in Armourers' Hall on the support and exploitation of materials science between, for example, academics, venture capitalists and industrialists.
- Armourers & Brasiers' Cambridge Forum: a one-day international conference at the University of Cambridge to raise the profile of materials science in academic and industrial areas in the UK, culminating in the prestigious annual Kelly Lecture.
